In true Vegas fashion, Monday night’s Raiders-Ravens game was as wild as we’ve ever seen. It was fitting it ended on a busted coverage taken advantage of by Derek Carr and Zay Jones.
Carr has been one of the more criticized quarterbacks in the NFL these past few years. But his numbers tell a different story. The former Fresno State star completed 34 of his 56 pass attempts for 435 yards and two touchdowns with one interception against a good Ravens defense. Better yet, Vegas escaped with the 33-27 overtime win.
Let’s make one thing clear: the Raiders are not a very good football team. They have major flaws and Jon Gruden continues to make mind-boggling coaching decisions. Carr tends to cover up those flaws and mistakes with strong on-field play.
The Raiders quarterback is a big reason why they won the game on Monday night. But he couldn’t help but spend his entire postgame interview praising one of his teammates. Talk about strong leadership.
Derek Carr used this national interview to specifically praise a teammate. I just became a forever fan. pic.twitter.com/0wLCkrHitj

It doesn’t get much better than that. Major props to Derek Carr for hyping up his teammate rather than himself.
The Raiders, meanwhile, have plenty to try and clean up ahead of their Week 2 showdown. Jon Gruden made plenty of questionable decisions. Carr was inaccurate at times. And let’s not forget about their rushing attack, which was practically non-existent.
The Raiders may not win many games this season, but at least they’ll be fun.
