Chargers Release Official Statement On Their Relocation To Los Angeles

Thurday morning, Chargers owner Dean Spanos officially announced that the franchise will be relocating to Los Angeles.

After multiple reports on Wednesday suggested the Chargers were set to move to Los Angeles, owner Dean Spanos confirmed the rumors with a letter to Chargers fans on Twitter.

"We must earn the respect and support of LA football fans. We must get back to winning. And we must make a meaningful contribution, not just on the field, but off the field as a leader and champion for the community," it reads.

The Chargers played their inaugural season in Los Angeles in 1960, and have spent the last 55 years in San Diego. LA will feature two NFL teams for the first time in the city's history, as the Chargers will share LA with the Rams, who made the move from St. Louis after the 2015 season.
