The NFL would have been very different.
Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys in 1989 for $140 million.
At the time, the Cowboys were losing over $1 million per year, and now the Cowboys are the most expensive sports franchise in the world, worth $4.2 billion.
But Jones nearly bought a different NFL team in the mid-1960's.
According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, Jones almost bought the Chargers when he was 23-years-old.
The Chargers are now worth $2.1 billion thanks to the move from San Diego to Los Angeles. In San Diego, the Chargers were valued at just over $500 million.
The NFL certainly wouldn't be the same if Jones had bought the Chargers back then. Would he still own the Cowboys? Would San Diego still have an NFL team? The possibilities are endless.
