For years, Terrell Owens was considered by many to be the gold standard of “diva” wide receivers. Antonio Brown might have him beat now.
Owens has weighed in on the Brown mess via Instagram. His post is quintessential T.O.
“BREAKING NEWS: Terell [sic] Owens wasn’t that bad after all. Somebody please reach out and apologize,”—the Hall of Fame, it reads.
First of all, the most incredible part of that post is the fact that Owens’ first name is misspelled. He either took the meme from somewhere or had someone make it for him, but either way, he wasn’t deterred by the fact they misspelled his name.
Secondly, he has a point. Owens was often disruptive and polarizing as a player, but for all the stuff he pulled, Brown might have surpassed it this summer.
Lastly, regardless of what you think of T.O. the person or teammate, he should have been in the Hall of Fame sooner than he was. The man was and is one of the best wide receivers in NFL history.
Brown is as well, though we’ll see if the last few months have done irreparable damage to his Hall of Fame candidacy.
