Earlier Friday morning, a disturbing story emerged from Minnesota.

Former NFL player Barry Bennett and his wife Carol were found dead in their Minnesota home after a concerned friend called police stating Bennett hadn't returned his phone calls or text messages.

Police named the couple's 22-year-old son, Dylan, as the suspect.

In the hours following the report, more details have emerged. ESPN revealed Dylan is accused of shooting Bennett and his wife multiple times, killing them and then fleeing to Mexico.

Here's more from the report:

Authorities issued an arrest warrant and were searching for Dylan Bennett, 22, who is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, without premeditation, in connection with the deaths of his parents, Barry and Carol Bennett.

Authorities reportedly believe the Bennetts were killed on Monday. According to the police report, Carol was shot multiple times in the back and torso. Barry was shot multiple times in the torso and head.

Police found an empty box for a 9mm handgun and a box for ammunition in the suspect's car.

According to a criminal complaint, Barry Bennett told the Todd County Sheriff's office in December that Dylan expressed thoughts about killing his parents while he was in a mental health treatment facility.
