Bill Belichick Went On Fiery Rant Against NFL Owners On Monday

Bill Belichick won't be coaching in the NFL this year.

Teams won't even have an opportunity to interview him because he became the head coach of the North Carolina football program before the NFL regular season ended.  He saw an opportunity to coach and took it pretty quickly.

While he's been a very successful coach at the NFL level, he went on a rant against league owners during the newest episode of the "Let's Go!" podcast.

“I would say in my experience of interviewing with different owners for head coaching positions, the subject very seldom relates to football,” Belichick said, (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk). “It’s about a lot of other things besides football. The only interview I’ve ever had with an owner that was a football conversation really was Al Davis interviewed me in depth about everything football, from personnel to coaching scheme, staff, practice, techniques, fundamentals, scouting, you name it."

While football is the main subject that a coach is interviewed on, the owner and the other decision-makers within the organization want to know more about the coach than just their football knowledge.

Heck, you see that in interviews all over the world for various jobs. Still, if Belichick had it his way, he'd probably want each interview to focus solely on football.

He doesn't have to worry about that for a bit since he is focused on getting the UNC football program back to relevance. The Tar Heels finished the 2024 season with a 7-7 record after losing to the UConn Huskies in the Fenway Bowl on Saturday.

Belichick was hired by the Tar Heels after they let go of former head coach Mack Brown before Saturday's bowl game. Brown was in his second stint as head coach before being let go.
