Houston Fans Rejoiced As Brock Osweiler Was Benched

Houston benched quarterback Brock Osweiler in the second quarter.

The Texans benched starting quarterback Brock Osweiler after his struggles through the first two quarters. Backup quarterback Tom Savage came in to replace the struggling Osweiler.

Houston paid Osweiler a very handsome amount to be its starting quarterback after a limited NFL debut with the Broncos last year. Despite starting just six games for Denver, Osweiler signed a 4-year, $72 million deal with the Texans.

The crowd gave a standing ovation for Savage, who came in to replace Osweiler.

Osweiler lasted just over one quarter, completing 6 of 11 passes for 48 yards and two interceptions.

The former Arizona State quarterback has struggled mightily this season. So far this season, the quarterback is completing less than 60 percent of his passes and has as many interceptions (14) as he does touchdowns (14).

Osweiler has also fumbled the ball five times this season. The fifth-year Sun Devils product has the worst quarterback rating among the 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL.
