Chargers vs. Raiders Preview:

The Chargers suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Saints on Sunday as Drew Brees threw two touchdowns in the final four minutes and 50 seconds of play. The Chargers fell 35-34. San Diego lost to the Colts 26-22 the week prior.

The Raiders have been a bit surprising this season as they have started the year 3-1. They are fresh off of spoiling Baltimore's perfect start with a 28-7 win at the home of the Ravens. Their lone loss came against Atlanta back in Week 2.

Derek Carr has performed well this season for Oakland averaging 267 yards per game through the air. Carr went 25-for-35 for 199 yards and four touchdowns against the Ravens last Sunday.

Phillip Rivers is averaging the 10th most passing yards per game in the NFL this season with 278 yards per contest to go along with just one interception as well. Rivers went 28-for-43 last week against the Saints to go along with 321 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Rivers should be chomping at the bit to get out there on Sunday against Oakland's pass defense which is the worst in the NFL allowing 326 passing yards per game. San Diego's defense is allowing 290 yards through the air per game.

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio is in his second season with the team and enters this matchup with a 77-81 record as a head coach in the NFL.

Mike McCoy is in his fourth season at the helm of the San Diego Chargers and brings a 23-29 record into this weekend’s game.

Oakland commands a 60-50-2 record against San Diego in the all-time regular season series.

Chargers vs. Raiders Prediction:

This AFC West showdown could turn into a shootout as both quarterbacks are entering the contest on hot streaks and each pass defense is below average. The Raiders come in with all of the confidence in the world after knocking off the Ravens on the road and Carr has this team on a level that hasn't been seen in years. Oakland wins.

Raiders 44, Chargers 34
