Report: FS1's Charissa Thompson A Candidate To Host Sunday NFL Countdown

ESPN is reportedly considering FS1's Charissa Thompson to succeed Chris Berman on Sunday NFL Countdown.

According to a report from Sporting News' Michael McCarthy, ESPN is looking at FS1's Charissa Thompson to take over as host for Sunday NFL Countdown. ESPN anchors Trey Wingo and Suzy Kolber were the expected frontrunners, but it appears as though ESPN is looking elsewhere to replace Chris Berman, who's stepping down from his hosting duties on the show and taking on a reduced role at the network.

Thompson is currently the host of her own NFL pregame show Fox NFL Kickoff, which airs before Fox NFL Sunday. She also co-hosts the entertainment show Extra with Mario Lopez and Tracey Edmonds.

With FS1 poaching former ESPNers Colin Cowherd, Skip Bayless and Jason Whitlock, it wouldn't be a surprise to see ESPN try and steal Thompson, a star in the industry. It'll be quite interesting to how this all shakes out, and if ESPN is able to snag Thompson.
