NFL Fans React To The Jon Gruden, Chicago Bears Speculation

The Chicago Bears will be one of at least a few teams that will be hiring a new head coach after their 2024 season ends.

They fired Matt Eberflus on Black Friday last week a day after he had an embarrassing coaching blunder at the end of the Bears-Lions game on Thanksgiving. He mismanaged the clock terribly and it cost him his job.

There will be quite a few candidates for his replacement and fans are already starting to discuss Jon Gruden as a potential possibility. To say that they wouldn't like it would be a big understatement.

"Jon Gruden is 61 and his last season above .500 as a head coach was 2008. Hard Pass," one fan tweeted.

"If the McCaskeys didn’t want Harbaugh around, they sure as hell aren’t gonna want Gruden around," another fan tweeted.

"No. And the Bears wouldn’t remotely consider him," another tweet read.

"No..dude hasn’t had a real job in 2 decades (not counting raider debacle) (and) probably has zero connection with players of today," another fan tweeted.

"What has he done? I saw him with Tampa & Raiders. He’s more like an analyst now," another tweet read.

Gruden has 15 years of head-coaching experience and has compiled a 117-112 record. He coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for seven seasons and the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders for a combined eight seasons.

It's highly unlikely that he'll be considered for the gig considering his past and because some other better coaches will be available, including Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
