Roger Goodell Reacts To The Soldier Field Speculation

Soldier Field has been the home of the Chicago Bears for decades and is considered one of the best venues in the NFL. And yet, it's possible that partnership may come to an end within the next 15 years.

The Bears haven't shied away from looking at other options since their lease at Soldier Field runs through 2033. Local officials have already approved the use of Arlington Park as a future site for a football stadium.

Earlier this week, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell shared his thoughts on the Bears potentially leaving Soldier Field during an appearance on 670 The Score.

"I don't know the answer to that question other than to know this is a really early stage to develop potentially an alternative," Goodell said, via Audacy. "But I think a lot has to be done here. I know their commitment to the Chicago area is 110 percent, and that's the most important thing to me."

Goodell reiterated that Chicago is currently looking for a long-term answer, so fans shouldn't worry about the team leaving Soldier Field anytime soon.

"We have a long lease at Soldier Field. It's a great place. But we're all looking to the long term and trying to look at alternatives, and that's what the Bears are doing."

For now, Goodell believes Bears fans should just focus on the 2021 season. However, it's tough to ignore all the rumors and reports about the franchise's future.

With reports circulating about a potential move to Arlington Park or Arlington Heights, it sounds like Soldier Field truly is no longer the permanent home of the Bears.
