Just before the Super Bowl, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has shared a troubling update on star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

In an appearance Friday on Fox News, Hunt said he doesn't know if the new NFL MVP will be at his full power for the big game.

"He's doing great this week," said Hunt. "I don't know that he'll be 100 percent, but he sure isn't going to tell you otherwise."

Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in the Chiefs' divisional round win over the Jaguars a few weeks ago, and has played through the injury to lead Kansas City to the Super Bowl.

Hunt praised his quarterback's ability to manage the injury - and showed some optimism.

"The great thing is Patrick's a very fast healer," Hunt said. "He was able to get ready to play the AFC championship game, you know, in a week on that high ankle sprain and just did an amazing job, including making the pivotal play at the end of the game that helped us win it on his legs."

If Mahomes' ankle was bothering him during the AFC title game, he didn't show it. The league MVP threw for 326 yards and 2 touchdowns in that game, securing another Super Bowl appearance for his team.
