The Carolina Panthers have been able to perform pretty well in the absence of star quarterback Cam Newton. That’s largely thanks to a sensational season from running back Christian McCaffrey.
So it should come as no surprise that many Panthers fans were nervous when McCaffrey showed up on the injury report with a back injury. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like the injury is too serious.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, McCaffrey was a full participant in practice on Thursday. As a result, he should get the all-clear or probably tag come Friday.
Starting cornerback Donte Jackson was a full participant as well after missing the last two weeks with a groin injury.
#Panthers star RB Christian McCaffrey, the NFL’s rushing leader, was back to a full participant in practice today. That’s a good sign he’ll play Sunday. CB Donte Jackson was, as well.

Christian McCaffrey is currently the NFL’s leading rusher with 587 yards and 117.4 yards per game. He also leads the league in yards from scrimmage and has seven all-purpose touchdowns.
Carolina’s entire offense basically revolves around McCaffrey at this point. One can make the argument that he’s been more valuable to the team than any quarterback that’s started for them this year.
Suffice it to say, the Panthers will breathe a deep sigh of relief if and when he gets the all-clear on the injury report.
Carolina plays against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in London on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. EST. The game will air on NFL Network.
