An NFL Starting QB Was Just Traded

The Cleveland Browns are wheeling and dealing. Hours after acquiring star receiver Jarvis Landry, they have reportedly acquired Bills starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

Taylor is fresh off of bringing the Buffalo Bills to the NFL Playoffs for the first time since 1999. The Bills were 9-7 in their first season under head coach Sean McDermott.

The former Virginia Tech star was a Pro Bowler in 2015. He has been a solid, if unspectacular starter for the Bills for the better part of the last three seasons.

In 2017, Taylor completed 62.6-percent of his passes, throwing for 2,799 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. He also ran for 427 yards and four touchdowns.

He has consistently been one of the more mistake-free quarterbacks in the NFL, with just 18 interceptions to 51 career touchdowns. However, some see him as a limited player, without big play throwing ability.

The Bills have flirted with moving on from Taylor for a few seasons, and even attempted it in the middle of their playoff push. He was benched for Nate Peterman ahead of the Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Peterman had one of the worst debuts of all time, completing 6-of-14 throws for 66 yards with five interceptions before being benched at halftime. Taylor could not bring the Bills back in that game, but did get Buffalo to the long-awaited playoff berth.

Now, Tyrod Taylor is heading to Cleveland.

ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news moments before appearing on SportsCenter. The Browns reportedly traded a third rounder for the QB.

The Browns are almost always the sources of ridicule around the league. However, this is a nice move that gives them great flexibility.

With Taylor in place, Cleveland no longer has to use the top overall pick on a quarterback. It can go with Penn State star running back Saquon Barkley, or another top player at a position of need, and use the No. 4 pick on one of the top quarterbacks to groom, if they so desire.
