Colin Cowherd Refers To Deshaun Watson As "Creepy"
The Cleveland Browns tied their future to Deshaun Watson amid multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. They're not receiving the on-field results to justify their decision to turn a moral cheek.
Watson has averaged 5.6 yards per pass attempt through two subpar games. He went 22-of-40 for 235 passing yards, a touchdown, an interception, and six sacks in Monday's 26-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Discussing the current state of Cleveland's franchise Tuesday, Colin Cowherd said the Browns "earned every inch" of their messy situation when trading for Watson and giving him an unprecedented contract extension.
Cowherd also called Watson "creepy" more than once in reference to his legal troubles before going to Cleveland.
"You can't get out of the way of an impulsive owner. An owner who panics," Cowherd said. "An owner who gives a fully guaranteed contract to a creepy guy with civil lawsuits who hadn't played in two years."
Watson settled 23 of the 24 civil lawsuits for allegations of sexual assault and harassment by massage therapists. The Browns acquired him after two Texas grand juries declined to indict the quarterback.
After serving an 11-game suspension, Watson threw seven touchdowns in six games. He hasn't looked much better this month.
"He's not the old Deshaun Watson," Cowherd said. "He's slower. When he runs, he's not running to throw. He's not running to buy time. He's running to run."
Cowherd called the Browns "hard to root for" and added that he wouldn't be surprised if they panicked and acquired Jonathan Taylor to replace the injured Nick Chubb.
"Bad organizations, they find themselves in holes," Cowherd said. "They find a shovel, and they keep on digging. That's what Cleveland does."
