Bill Belichick Makes His Opinion On Cowboys' Roster Extremely Clear
The Dallas Cowboys are reeling after back-to-back losses.
Following a 44-19 trashing by the New Orleans Saints, the Cowboys dropped to 1-2 with another home loss on Sunday. Despite scoring three straight touchdowns, a fourth-quarter comeback fell short in a 28-25 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson led a dominant ground game that compiled 274 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
It's a jarring start for a perennial playoff contender, but the pattern felt somewhat familiar to Bill Belichick.
Appearing on Monday's The Pat McAfee Show, Belichick compared the Week 3 game to some of last year's pitfalls against the run.
"This is the same thing they ran into last year, right? The games they fell behind in early, teams ran the ball against them like Buffalo ran for 250 yards last year. They had about three or four games where they gave up over 175 yards rushing and got beat.
"That was a little bit of the same issue they had last year. Of course, these last two at home are definitely a problem."

In addition to the blowout loss at Buffalo, the Cowboys also fell behind early and allowed 170 rushing yards in a 42-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Green Bay Packers jumped to a huge lead in the opening half of last season's playoff matchup behind three Aaron Jones touchdowns.
However, one notable difference is that Dallas went 8-0 at AT&T Stadium during the 2023 regular season. America's Team is now 0-2 at home, and a Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions is their only home game in the next six weeks.
Fans critical of a quiet offseason will use these losses as validation that the Cowboys should have made more moves. Belichick doesn't think they should anticipate any mid-season reinforcements, but he feels the reigning NFC East champions can turn the corner with their current roster.
"Look, the draft's over. Free agency's over. I wouldn't expect a lot of big trades here," Belichick said. "I think there's enough talent in Dallas to get things straightened out. But they got to look in the mirror and look each other in the eye and say, 'We're gonna do it.'"
If the Cowboys keep struggling, speculation will especially intensify about Jerry Jones pursuing Belichick as a replacement for Mike McCarthy next year. But for now, the 72-year-old will analyze them in his various media roles ahead of Thursday night's game against a team from his past, the New York Giants.
