NFL Fans React To The Mike Vrabel, Cowboys Speculation
Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel figures to be a hot name in the upcoming NFL hiring cycle.
Vrabel, who has spent this season as a coaching and personnel consultant with the Cleveland Browns after six years with the Titans, is already being mentioned for job openings. In the latest intel from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano, Vrabel has been mentioned as a possible candidate with the Bears, who have a vacancy, as well as the Raiders and Cowboys, should they move on from Antonio Pierce or Mike McCarthy.
"Some around the league have noted the Cowboys as a natural fit. They valued experience and pedigree with their last hire in Mike McCarthy and could lean that way again, if they decide to make a change at all," Fowler wrote.
Fowler is not the only media member to link Vrabel to America's Team. On Tuesday, FS1's Nick Wright argued that there's "never been a team that needs Mike Vrabel more than the Dallas Cowboys."
All of this talk of Vrabel coaching the Cowboys has elicited plenty of online reaction.
"Need? They need a lot. Deserve? No. Will be able to acquire? No," said one person in response to Wright. "Jerry is his own baggage. You’ll get a recycled head coach, or a coordinator who hasn’t been able to secure a head coaching gig. But because Jerry stays - many likely won’t come."
"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and son are too weak to handle this coach…" said the Law Nation Sports account about the Vrabel chatter.
"Welp, Cowboys Nation... Bill Belichick is off the table and Mike Vrabel is being scouted by the Raiders!! Get ready to have BIG Mike a our coach in 2025!!! #AngryCowboysFan #DC4L," said the Angry Cowboys Fan on X/Twitter.
"I truly believe your 2 Cowboys Coaching options for 2025 are: - Mike McCarthy on a 2yr extension - Mike Vrabel on a 5yr deal Both options f-----g stink," another Cowboys fan chimed in.
In his six seasons in Tennessee, Vrabel posted a 54-45 overall record with two AFC South titles and three playoff appearances, including a trip to the AFC Championship Game in 2019.
He was also named NFL Coach of the Year in 2021 when he led the Titans to the No. 1 seed in the conference.
