NFL Fans Saddened By Death Of Former Cowboys Running Back
Former Dallas Cowboys running back Duane Thomas passed away this past weekend at the age of 77.
The Cowboys selected Thomas with the 23rd pick in the 1970 NFL Draft. After spending two seasons in Dallas, he was traded to the San Diego Chargers. However, he never played a game for the franchise due to issues behind the scenes.
Thomas then spent two seasons with Washington before making his return to Dallas in 1976. The Dallas native then finished his career with the Green Bay Packers in 1976.
NFL fans around the country had nothing but kind things to say about Thomas this Tuesday once they learned about his death.
"The Original #33. Electrifying," a social media user wrote. "RIP Duane Thomas."
"The #Cowboys Family lost a great one tonight," another person said. "Super Bowl Champion Duane Thomas was the first RB to wear 33 in Dallas. This photo will always be in my Cowboys Cave. RIP."
"Duane Thomas was a truly gifted running back who came nowhere near reaching his potential in the NFL," a fan tweeted. "RIP to a guy I enjoyed watching play."
Thomas, a former rushing touchdowns leader and Super Bowl champion, finished his NFL career with 2,038 rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns.
Our thoughts are with Thomas' loved ones.
