Zack Martin Will Reportedly Sign Massive Contract Extension With Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have had one of the NFL's most dominant offensive lines. Guard Zack Martin, a key cog in that group, is going to be with the team for the foreseeable future.
Martin is set to become the highest-paid guard in the NFL. The six-year deal comes with a guaranteed payday of $40 million for the former Notre Dame standout.
The deal will lock Martin in through 2024. From The Dallas Morning News:
In what has taken almost a year to get accomplished, Martin and the Cowboys agreed to a long-term contract extension Wednesday afternoon. Martin is signing a six-year, $84 million extension that will pay him $40 million guaranteed, a source said.
The deal will make him the highest-paid offensive guard in the NFL and pay him more guaranteed money than any other offensive guard in the league.
Zack Martin's signing continues the trend of the Cowboys locking up top offensive linemen.
Left tackle Tyron Smith and center Travis Frederick are also among the top players at their positions in the NFL. Both are signed through 2023.
Just yesterday, Martin discussed the possibility of becoming the highest paid guard in the league.
"My agents and I, that's what we were shooting for. It's a huge honor. That will probably get beat by someone, whenever the next one signs, but that's how it works. Whenever we lock this thing up, very excited to get it over with."
The 27-year old was the 16th overall pick in the 2014 class. He has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first four NFL seasons and is a two-time First Team All-Pro.
