The sports media website Deadspin appears to believe that a veteran NFL quarterback is acting racist.

The Tennessee Titans have benched veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill in favor of rookie Will Levis. Tannehill has handled the benching with grace, saying he'll do what he can for Levis.

Last year, when the Titans drafted Malik Willis, Tannehill had a different tune, saying it wasn't his job to mentor the rookie. Of course, the situations are different - when Tannehill was asked about Willis, he was still the team's starter; when he was asked about Levis, he had already been benched.

But Deadspin believes Tannehill's change of heart is probably racially motivated.

"In 2022, Ryan Tannehill wanted nothing to do with the new guy in town, Malik Willis — he’s Black. In 2023, Tannehill went out of his way to make sure people know that he supports the newer guy in town, Will Levis — he’s white," Deadspin wrote.

"This stuff writes itself."

Unsurprisingly, there are a lot of different reactions to Deadspin's accusation.

"Another example of why no one respects anyone at Deadspin. This is an absolute trash thing to say, especially with nothing to back it up," one fan wrote.

"What crap, you should be ashamed to put that out there," one fan added.

"Yo, this is a wild accusation based off of one quote and no time spent with the team," another fan added.

The Titans, meanwhile, fell to the Bucs on Sunday, losing 20-6. They are now 3-6 on the year.
