Deion Sanders Will 'Not Allow' 2 NFL Franchises To Draft His Son, Shedeur
Deion Sanders' son, Shedeur Sanders, is considered one of the top prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Shedeur Sanders, a junior quarterback at Colorado, is currently projected to go No. 1 overall by ESPN's latest mock draft. He's projected to go No. 3 overall by CBS Sports and Sports Illustrated, respectively. Barring a major surprise, Sanders will be one of the top players taken next spring.
But will Deion Sanders prevent a team or two from taking his son at the top of the NFL Draft? The Ringer's Todd McShay is convinced that Deion Sanders will "not allow" two notable NFL franchises to draft his son at the top of the board in Round 1 next April.
McShay believes that Deion Sanders, who got Colorado bowl eligible on Saturday, will "not allow" the Cleveland Browns or Carolina Panthers to draft Shedeur Sanders.
"Do you think for a second that Coach Prime is gonna allow his son to go to Cleveland or Carolina?" McShay asked.
"I think it is a legitimate conversation."
It wouldn't be unprecedented, of course. The Manning family prevented Eli Manning from going to the then-San Diego Chargers in 2004. And John Elway forced his way to the Denver Broncos when he was coming out of Stanford.
Coach Prime has a lot of influence and could make things very hard for the Browns or the Panthers if they choose to take his son (assuming he doesn't want them to, anyway). Few people in the sport are as talked about as Coach Prime and he could have bad headline after bad headline coming out in the news.
For now, it's just speculation, but one prominent NFL Draft analyst seems to be convinced that it's going to be a storyline when the time is right next spring.
