Bo Nix's Halftime Stats Vs. Jets Are Shockingly Bad

Congratulations to everyone watching the NFL's Week 4 action. You had more passing yards than Bo Nix at halftime.

The Denver Broncos quarterback had a nightmarish start to Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Nix completed seven of 15 passes for minus-7 yards in the opening half.

Denver went the entire first half without gaining a first down or completing a pass for positive yardage. The Broncos punted six times and fumbled on their only other possession.

According to ESPN's Bill Barnwell, Nix is the first quarterback since 2000 to have multiple completions and negative passing yards in the first half since 2000. However, he noted that Travis Brown completed one throw for minus-2 yards in 2001.

With five quarterbacks already off the board, the Broncos made Nix the No. 12 pick in this year's draft. Perhaps they hoped his 61 games over five seasons with Auburn and Oregon would make the 24-year-old more NFL-ready than the typical rookie.

However, Nix is off to a brutal start.

Yet to throw his first career passing touchdown, the 2023 Heisman Trophy finalist threw two interceptions in his first two NFL games. He had three at Oregon last season.

Even before Sunday, Nix entered Week 4 with just 5.3 yards per pass attempt and a 61.8 quarterback rating. Yet he played better when going 25-of-36 for 216 passing yards and a rushing touchdown in last week's 26-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Now for the good news. Despite the offense's historically bad start, the Broncos are only down 6-0. Nix opened the second half with a 23-yard connection to Courtland Sutton.
