John Elway Is Thinking Of Brett Favre After Tough Health Diagnosis
Earlier this week, former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre revealed at a congressional hearing that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
"Sadly, I also lost an investment in a company that I believed was developing a breakthrough concussion drug I thought would help others," Favre said. "And I'm sure you'll understand why it's too late for me, because I've recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's. This is also a cause dear to my heart."
Favre made this announcement during a hearing about the Mississippi welfare scandal that he has been attached to. As you'd expect, the majority of the NFL community is heartbroken for him.
On Wednesday, Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway commented on Favre's diagnosis.
"That's always sad news," Elway told Fox News Digital. "Things happen to our friends the older we get. Brett Favre was a great player, tremendous player and really a fun guy. I had a chance to spend a lot of time with him. Really a fun guy to be around. He’s just got a great energy about him.
"It’s sad news to hear that he’s going through that. Hopefully, they can keep it tamped down for as long as they can keep it down and come up with something that helps people. I know it inflicts many, many people out there. Hopefully, there’s a cure that comes around here pretty soon."
In an interview with TMZ, Favre revealed why he wanted to get checked for Parkinson's disease. He said it came down to not having full strength in his arm.
"I felt my arm, the strength was there, but I could not guide it. And it was the most frustrating thing," Favre said.
Favre's doctors told him that his diagnosis may have been the result of suffering multiple concussions.
We wish Favre all the best as he deals with this disease.
