A general lack of execution could be the main reason the New Orleans Saints lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, and no play encapsulated that better than a third down play in the third quarter.

The Saints were trailing by one possession and needed to kept the drive alive if they converted. Derek Carr attempted a pass deep to wide receiver Chris Olave, who appeared to end his route too early.

Carr was visibly upset after the play, yelling at Olave and appearing to tell him to continue the route.

Fans who viewed the play had a different outlook, and many of them took exception to how Carr handled things with his teammate.

"Said the same thing… what’s Olave supposed to do when 1. The ball is 20 yards overthrown and 2. Already out of bounds…," one fan said.

"you mean to tell me Derek Carr wasn’t a QB “waiting for a playoff team”. you mean he was the problem all along," another fan asked.

"If the Saints have to choose between Carr or Olave’s happiness, choose Olave and don’t look back," said another fan.

"Quit screaming at your talented skill players. YOU are the problem and absolutely suck," said one fan who directed his anger over the loss at Carr.

The Saints offense showed signs of life last night, keeping the game against Jacksonville and giving New Orleans a chance to tie or win, but ultimately it was the same story in the end - lack of execution, like on this very play - leading to the loss.
