He wasn't drafted in the first round, but Kizer is ready for the next step.
Thursday night saw the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft come and go. Several surprising trades occurred as teams moved up to draft quarterbacks. The Chicago Bears moved up to No. 2 from No. 3 and gave up a litany of draft picks to San Francisco in order to take Mitchell Trubisky from North Carolina.
The Kansas City Chiefs followed suit soon after, trading all the way up to No. 10 from No. 27 in order to draft Patrick Mahomes. Shortly thereafter, the Houston Texans jumped up from the No. 25 spot in order to take former Clemson standout Deshaun Watson with the No. 12 pick.
One quarterback who attended the draft, was not chosen in the first round, however.
Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer was left in the green room after 32 teams passed on him in Round 1. Although he wasn't pleased, Kizer is looking forward to what Day 2 of the 2017 NFL Draft has to offer.
Kizer is one of the best quarterbacks remaining in the draft, and should go in the second round. You can catch the second and third round of the 2017 NFL Draft tonight at 7:00 p.m. E.T. on ESPN.
