The latest reports indicate Dak Prescott has asked the Dallas Cowboys for a new contract worth $40 million per year after turning down Dallas’ $30 million per year offer.
While most pundits and fans are scoffing at Prescott’s reported request, his former wide receiver Dez Bryant isn’t. He believes Dak is worth all the dough.
On Twitter this evening, Bryant had a simple message for his former team: pay Dak what he wants.
Pay Dak his 40Mil and don’t @ me
— Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) August 12, 2019
Bryant is no stranger to contract negotiations with Dallas and going head-to-head with the team’s front office. It is nice to see him stepping up and supporting his old QB.
Unfortunately, Dez’s tweet isn’t going to matter much in the long run. Dallas isn’t going to give Dak $40 million, and the fourth-year pro knows that.
In reality, his best bet is probably for an agreement somewhere in the middle of the reported $30 million and his $40 million asking price.
If Dallas is willing to give Dak say $35 million, one would have to think he’ll remain with the Cowboys.
