We have our first head coaching firing of the NFL's final Sunday of the 2018 regular season.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly fired head coach Dirk Koetter following the franchise's final game of the regular season.
Koetter was widely expected to be let go, admitting after his team's game today that he wasn't sure if he'd be in the team meeting on Monday morning.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter first reported the news.
"Post-season firings are underway: Buccaneers relieved HC Dirk Koetter of his duties, source tells ESPN," he reports.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport has confirmed the firing.
"Source: The #Bucs have fired coach Dirk Koetter. An opening in Tampa Bay," he reported.
Koetter, 59, had been Tampa Bay's head coach since the 2016 season. The Bucs finished the 2018 season going 5-11 for the second straight year.
There will surely be more head coaching firings to come. Stay tuned.
