As the NFL enters yet another season, ESPN decided to look at the notable players who have graced the field over the years.

NFL expert Jeff Legwold revealed a list detailing the best players at their position since inception of the NFL.

He came up with the "Greatest Starting 22" in NFL history. He also added three specialists and of course, a head coach. The list runs generations, from your grandparents' favorite players to those still in the game today.

Bill Belichick leads the squad onto the field with his quarterback, Tom Brady, under center.

A few of the other notable names starting on offense are Jerry Rice, Walter Payton and Tony Gonzalez. For the older crowd, Dan Hutson and Jim Otto also made the list.

As for the defense, Aaron Donald was beat out by Merlin Olsen and Joe Greene at the defensive tackle spot. Lawrence Taylor - arguably the greatest defensive player ever - owns the defensive end spot along with Reggie White.

See the full list below.

Adam Vinatieri, who is entering his 24th NFL season, earned the right to be the team's placekicker.

He was one of only two active players to make the list - Tom Brady being the other.
