ESPN's Computer Releases Super Bowl 59 Pick Entering Week 6
The NFL season is entering its sixth week, and certain teams are beginning to separate themselves from the pack. The better teams are finding ways to win each week, while the teams near the bottom of the standings appear destined for more losses.
Only two undefeated teams remain - one in each conference - showing the parity that exists around the NFL. Every team also has at least one win at this early point in the season, putting all 32 teams in the hunt for the playoffs.
Over the next few weeks, we'll see more of a gap between the league's best and worst teams, but ESPN is giving its prediction for the last two teams standing.
Unsurprisingly, the teams with the best chance from each conference are the ones who have yet to lose a game. ESPN's FPI gives the Kansas City Chiefs a 32.7% chance to make the Super Bowl out of the AFC, and the Minnesota Vikings a 17.9% chance to make it out of the NFC.
The Chiefs have continued their dominance with a 5-0 start this season, and they're looking to complete the first Super Bowl three-peat in NFL history. The Vikings have been the biggest surprise of the NFL season so far, moving to an undefeated start with Sam Darnold at quarterback.
Darnold took the starting job after rookie JJ McCarthy suffered a season-ending injury in the preseason, and he's looked like an early candidate for MVP.
The Chiefs already have wins over the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons, but their schedule is about to get even more difficult.
They'll face the 49ers on the road next week in a Super Bowl rematch, and games against the Buccaneers, Bills, Texans and Steelers remain on their schedule.
The Vikings have a bye in Week 6, but they'll resume the season with a big game against their top foe in the NFC North this season, the Detroit Lions.
The Vikings picked up a huge win in their first divisional game of the season against the Green Bay Packers, and they'll look to do the same against Detroit.
We'll see if the league's two best teams to begin the season are still standing in February, as the Lombardi Trophy will be on the line in New Orleans.
