Fans, Media Feeling Bad For Joe Burrow Tonight
Joe Burrow is playing Monday night, but he's not performing up to his usual standards.
Seemingly still hampered by his injured calf, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback dinked and dunked throughout a lackluster first half against the Los Angeles Rams. The quarterback completed 17 of 31 passes for 144 yards, with only one play going beyond 13 yards.
Viewers are disappointed to see Burrow's struggles continue.
"Joe Burrow at whatever percent he's currently playing is a shadow of the Joe Burrow we know," Rich Eisen said. "This is a shame."
"Whether it's the calf, or the communication lost with missed practice, or something else, Joe Burrow's just off on some throws right now—which is weird to watch because he might be the NFL's most accurate QB, "Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer wrote.
"This isn't Joe Burrow and it's painful to watch," The Messenger's Adam Ronis said. "Just let him get healthy."
"Joe Burrow don't look the same," a fan commented.
"If Joe Burrow can't move, can't get it downfield, and is averaging 4.6 yards per throw, is it really worth putting him at risk?" ESPN's Bill Barnwell asked.
The Bengals are 0-2, in part because of substandard play from Burrow. He opened the season by throwing just 82 yards in a 24-3 loss to the Cleveland Browns before averaging 5.4 yards per attempt in a Week 2 shortcoming against the Baltimore Ravens.
Barring a second-half turnaround, Burrow and the Bengals may have to give more serious thought to resting his calf. But on the bright side, the defense is keeping them in Monday's night game.
Neither team found the end zone before entering halftime in a 6-6 tie. Fans can watch the rest of the game on ESPN.
