Former NFL RB Zurlon Tipton Dies In Accidental Shooting At Car Dealership

Former NFL running back Zurlon Tipton died today in an accidental shooting at a car dealership. 

The 26-year-old former tailback, who played for the Indianapolis Colts for two seasons, reportedly accidentally shot himself shortly after pulling into the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership in Roseville, Mich. this morning. 

Tipton, who played collegiately at Central Michigan, reportedly mistakenly shot himself.

The man went to take a duffel bag out of the trunk of his vehicle, and one of the two guns inside the bag reportedly went off. He was struck in the stomach. He was taken to the hospital in good condition, but later died.

Officials confirmed to WJBK that the victim was former Colts running back Zurlon Tipton. He was 26 years old.

The 6-foot, 231-pound running back was signed by the Colts after going undrafted in 2014. He was waved from the team in December 2015. Tipton totaled 27 rushing yards, 75 receiving yards and one touchdown in his NFL career.

Colts' wide receiver Donte Moncrief posted a tribute to Tipton on Instagram.
