If New York Giants fans had any faith in general manager Dave Gettleman going into tonight, it is likely gone with news of the team’s first round pick. The Giants just reached for Duke quarterback Daniel Jones.
With Kentucky pass rusher Josh Allen and Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver still on the board at No. 6, Gettleman instead opted for Jones, much to the chagrin of many fans in attendance and those on social media. The reaction was bad.
Gettleman has said that quarterbacks in New York need to have mental toughness. Hopefully Jones does, because a majority of the fan base doesn’t want him.

So, the Giants in one year have passed on Sam Darnold for a running back, albeit a great one, traded all of their good players including Odell Beckham Jr., and now overdrafted a mediocre quarterback.
No wonder they have gone from Super Bowl champions to laughingstock in less than a decade.
Stick around though: the Giants have another first round pick (No. 17) for Gettleman to screw up.
