Considering that Kansas City has a history of underperforming in the postseason, this latest update on Eric Berry won’t exactly sit well with the fans.
It’s been an injury-plagued season for Berry, who is still dealing with heel problems after tearing his Achilles back in 2017.
With the Chiefs preparing for battle against the Indianapolis Colts, the status of Berry will loom large in Kansas City. The absence of the All-Pro safety could hurt an already suspect defense.
Outside of Chris Jones and Dee Ford, the Chiefs don’t have enough consistent playmakers on that unit.
Sure, Patrick Mahomes can outperform almost any quarterback in a shootout. However, Kansas City will need some defensive resistance to defeat Indianapolis.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, it sounds like Berry could be ruled out in the near future.
Although his situation hasn’t gotten any worse, the team is adjusting its defensive packages in the event that Berry is inactive for Saturday, per NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo.

Due to the game being scheduled on Saturday, Berry will only have one more day to make a miraculous recovery.
Until then, expect Chiefs fans to hold their breath in anticipation of his official status.
