The NFL made it clear that Super Bowl LIV in Miami will have a decisive hometown appeal. Today it was announced that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira would be headlining the Super Bowl halftime show.

With a chance to perform in front of a national audience, Jennifer Lopez has released a statement.

J-Lo credited Diana Ross' iconic Halftime Show performance at Super Bowl XXX as one of her inspirations for wanting to do the show herself. She said she was looking forward to performing with Shakira.

"Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the Halftime Show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl... And now it's made even more special not only because it's the NFL's 100th anniversary, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can't wait to show what us girls can do on the world's biggest stage."

Shakira also released a statement of her own, stating she was "honored to be taking on one of the world's biggest stages."

Despite being two of the biggest recording artists in the world at around the same time, the two have never performed on stage together.

Super Bowl LIV is already set to be a historic game, and we don't even know who's playing in it yet!
