Jerry Jones Sends New Message To Cowboys Fans About Ezekiel Elliott
A week and a half before Week 1 and the biggest concern for Dallas Cowboys fans is Ezekiel Elliott's status.
Elliott has held out all summer in hopes of securing a long-term deal from the club. Thus far, Dallas has reportedly made an offer putting him among the highest-paid at his position, but Elliott is apparently seeking the top deal for a running back.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made comments during a recent radio appearance that seemed to indicate he is comfortable with Elliott possibly missing games. However, his quotes to fans at today's Cowboys kickoff luncheon are more positive.
Jones told the crowd his team is missing one [player] but "we'll have him on the field...I'm not joking." Elliott's name wasn't mentioned but it doesn't take a detective to figure out who he was referring to.
With Elliott sitting out, rookie Tony Pollard has seen extensive action this preseason. The Cowboys also could turn to veteran Alfred Morris.
Dallas will open up its 2019 season on Sunday, September 8 against the New York Giants at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
That will be a nationally-televised game, so you know Cowboys fans would love to see Elliott in the lineup.
