Jimmy Garoppolo made his return to game action tonight for the San Francisco 49ers. Let’s just say it didn’t go as he hoped.
Tonight’s preseason contest against the Denver Broncos was the first live action Jimmy G has seen in roughly 11 months. He tore his ACL in a Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last season.
Garoppolo promptly opened the game up with an interception on 3rd-and-6 from his own 41-yard-line.
Are you ok, Jimmy Garoppolo?

Garoppolo was later nearly intercepted again. If the defender held onto the ball, it would have almost certainly been a pick-six.
Here's the 2nd terrible pass from Jimmy Garoppolo in the game. He threw a pick on the first drive and had a defender drop this one that was thrown right to him.

For the evening, Garoppolo was 1-for-6 passing for 0 yards and an interception before giving way to C.J. Beathard. His only completion was a screen pass to running back Matt Breida for no game.
Of course, Garoppolo’s performance has to be taken with a grain of salt. He’s just getting settled after missing most of last year.
Still, we’re less than three weeks away from the opener. Whatever rust he has left, he had better shake it off quickly.
The 49ers are paying him big money, and with some touting them as a team poised to break out, San Francisco needs Garoppolo to play well.
