The 49ers' quarterback situation has change drastically over the course of the last year.

San Francisco started 2022 with Trey Lance as its starter, a job he held for only two weeks before suffering a season-ending injury. That opened the door for Jimmy Garoppolo, who took over before suffering a season-ending injury of his own.

Brock Purdy took over for Garoppolo and led the team to the NFC Championship game. In 2023, Purdy is the starter while Lance and Garoppolo are both now on different teams.

Garoppolo is now the starting quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, while Lance was recently traded to the Dallas Cowboys. Garoppolo gave his opinion on the trade and how he feels about Lance.

“Weird situation,” the Raiders quarterback told Sports Illustrated.

"Been a lot of weird situations over there in San Francisco. I’ll just leave it at that. But I’m happy Trey got another shot. I’m happy he’s getting to Dallas, gets another opportunity and hopefully things work out there."

Lance is a former No. 3 pick - a pick the 49ers traded a good amount of draft capital to make - and is now on a different team after making less than five NFL starts/

He'll have a chance to make the 49ers regret moving on from him now that he is in Dallas.
