Joe Namath is as tired of watching Zach Wilson as most New York Jets fans.

The former Jets icon didn't mince words when discussing the team's young quarterback on The Michael Kay Show. Per ESPN's Rich Cimini, Namath called Wilson's play in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the New England Patriots "disgusting."

Jets head coach Robert Saleh confirmed that Wilson will start Week 4's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Namath suggested he'd be better off sitting behind Patrick Mahomes than facing him.

"Send him to Kansas City to back up against somebody like Mahomes. Maybe he'd learn something," Namath said when asked how Wilson can improve, via Awful Announcing. "I wouldn't keep him. I've seen enough of Zach Wilson."

During Sunday's game, Namath wondered if Wilson was getting over-coached. He claimed the 24-year-old was "making choices that are not intuitive to the quarterback position."

On Monday, Namath speculated that players on the Jets defense must be fed up with Wilson. Saleh defended Wilson when appearing on the same show, claiming the locker room remains confident in the quarterback.

"Guys like Zach," Saleh said. "Zach is a good young man. He works his tail off. He stands for everything you want out of a human. You'd want your daughter to marry the young man. He's a tremendous young man."

However, Wilson isn't quite a tremendous quarterback at the moment. He's completed 44 of 84 passes for 467 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions this season.

The Jets have scored 10 points in each of his starts.

Namath, who led the Jets to their only Super Bowl in franchise history, said he doesn't see a future for Wilson. Despite his objections, Wilson will get another chance on Sunday Night Football.
