Last weekend, Julian Edelman had to miss the second half against the New York Jets due to a chest injury. It was unfamiliar territory for one of the toughest players in the league.

Since the score between the Jets and Patriots was so lopsided, it made sense for Bill Belichick to be cautious with Edelman. Moving forward to this weekend, the AFC powerhouse might desperately need the shifty wide receiver.

With a showdown against the undefeated Buffalo Bills looming this weekend, it appears the top wideout for the Patriots will be ready for action.

According to Patriots reporter Mike Giardi, Edelman had his travel bag in front of his locker. This is a strong sign that he'll be making the trip with the team to Buffalo.

He's not a guarantee to play, but the Super Bowl MVP is moving in the right direction.

Edelman's status for this game might not be decided until right before kickoff.

Considering that Julian Edelman has participated in practice this week, he should be good to go as long as he avoids any setbacks.

Sunday’s game will decide first place in the AFC East through the first quarter of the regular season. New England has looked as dominant as ever, but Buffalo will provide the defending champions their toughest test yet.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.
