In early June, a former college football star was arrested twice within the span of a week. Former Miami standout tight end Kellen Winslow II first on burglary charges, but there was quite more to the story.
Just seven days later, Winslow was arrested again. This time, on 9 criminal charges including kidnapping with intent to commit rape after he allegedly picked up to hitchhikers, took them to an isolated location, and sexually assaulted them.
Winslow also allegedly entered a mobile home park on two occasions with the intent to rape elderly women. The former Miami star was in court today when more, unrelated charges were doled out.
Prosecutors added two more charges stemming from an alleged incident in 2003. Winslow, then 19, has been accused of raping a 17-year-old girl while she was unconscious.
Here's more from TMZ.
here was a bombshell moment in court when prosecutors added 2 new rape charges stemming from an alleged incident in 2003 where Kellen -- 19 years old at the time -- was accused of forcibly raping a 17 year old unconscious girl.
"When there is a rape that occurs and the victim is under the age of 18 years old, there is no statutory time (limit) to when that can be charged. That's exactly what we have here."
Winslow faces life in prison if convicted on all counts. The 34-year-old plead not guilty to all charges.
The judge set bail at $2 million. For his part, Winslow can now post bail and leave jail. A trial date has yet to be set up.
