Kelvin Benjamin Continues To Be Made Fun Of For His Weight

The Carolina Panthers' wide receiver showed up to OTAs looking not that great.

Kelvin Benjamin is a big wide receiver.

The former Florida State star was listed at 6-foot-5, 234 pounds during his time with the Seminoles. He went on to be taken in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by Carolina.

Benjamin has had a promising but injury-hampered career so far in the NFL. The 2017 season could perhaps be a breakout one for the 26-year-old wideout. He showed up to OTAs looking not so great, though.

And Twitter has been relentless.

Benjamin's head coach, Ron Rivera, defended his player amidst the criticism.

“A lot was made about his weight early on,” Rivera said, via ESPN. “I thought that was unfair because this is all voluntary. He’s worked himself into shape. His route running has been very sharp. His ball catching has been real good. The other day he made a spectacular one-handed catch over the middle that shows you what he’s capable of doing.”

The season is a long way off, so Benjamin has plenty of time to work himself back into shape.
