Just last week the sports media world learned that Stephen A. Smith would have a new co-host for “First Take.”
In fact, ESPN decided on a full cast of co-hosts that will play alongside Stephen A. every week. One of those guests is former NFL star wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson.
Fans who have watched Stephen A. over the years know he’s accustomed to throwing around a few hot takes. Well, Keyshawn wasted no time making himself a part of that conversation.
But Keyshawn added another name: Derek Carr.
“See, I like Derek Carr, but that’s just me. I’ve been saying it since Day 1. Three years ago he was an MVP candidate until he got hurt…They’re not losing because of him. They’re losing because of that damn defense.”
The list of QBs @keyshawn considers "elite:"

Johnson is right when he says that Carr was once an MVP candidate, but he hasn’t played up to that level in recent years.
If the Raiders are able to keep pace in a crowded AFC West, Carr might just have a case for being an “elite” quarterback.
However, it’s a bit much to say he’s there right now.
