During the college football season in 2018, days before facing Kyler Murray and the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said he would take Murray with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. That was said with the assumption Murray would play baseball in 2019, rather than football.
However, after the Arizona Cardinals finished with the worst record in the NFL and hired Kingsbury as the team’s head coach the rumors began. Then Murray announced his plans to forego a chance at the MLB to seek out a future in the NFL and the rumors really heated up.
Would Kingsbury and the Cardinals move on from Josh Rosen after just one season to take Murray with the No. 1 overall pick?
According to a short statement he just gave, no.
Darren Urban reported Kingsbury said “Josh Rosen is our guy.”

Rosen finished his rookie season with 2,278 passing yards and just 11 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. He completed just 55.2-percent of his passes on the year as the Cardinals wrapped up the worst record in the NFL.
With the No. 1 pick in the draft and Kyler Murray going to the NFL, the rumors won’t slow down regardless of Kingsbury’s statement.
The NFL draft kicks off on Thursday, April 25.
