Nick Bosa remains away from the San Francisco 49ers while negotiating a long-term extension, but Kyle Shanahan isn't sweating the lengthy holdout.

Via David Bonilla of 49ers Web Zone, the head coach told reporters Tuesday that "nothing's changed" in the star defender's situation. He anticipated the process dragging into late August.

"It's going pretty much exactly how I expected it to go," Shanahan said. "It's kind of just been exactly what I thought. ... Yeah, I had a feeling it would [take this long]."

Shanahan added that he hopes for a resolution "sooner rather than later."

At least publically, the 49ers have conveyed calmness as Bosa seeks a new deal. Earlier this month, Shanahan brushed off any worries about the Defensive Player of the Year falling behind by missing training camp.

"Everybody wants people here, and you want to do that stuff, but it doesn't affect the team as much from the D-end standpoint," Shanahan said two weeks ago. "I have as much confidence in Nick as any player I've ever been around in terms of how he prepares and everything."

Bosa made a convincing case for a raise by generating 48 quarterback hits and an NFL-high 18.5 sacks last season. The 49ers finished the season first in points and yards allowed.

On Tuesday, Bosa posted a photo from New York, where his agent's office is located. That has 49ers fans hoping to hear some good news soon.

San Francisco is less than three weeks away from starting the 2023 season against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 10.
