Former star Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray has officially made a decision on his future, announcing whether he’ll be pursuing a career in the MLB or the NFL. The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback is choosing football.
Murray, a top 10 pick in last year’s MLB Draft, has been flirting with both football and baseball over the past couple of months, refusing to reveal which way he was leaning.
This afternoon, Murray took to Twitter to announce his decision. He is fully committed to pursuing a career as an NFL quarterback.
“Moving forward, I am firmly and fully committing my life and time to becoming an NFL quarterback,” Murray tweeted.
“Football has been my love and passion my entire life. I was raised to play QB and I very much look forward to dedicating 100 percent of myself to being the best QB possible and winning NFL championships.”

This is tough news for the Oakland A’s, who took Murray in the first round of last year’s MLB Draft and allowed him to play one season of football at Oklahoma before heading to the minor leagues.
However, it’s not too surprising, considering the success Murray had at Oklahoma. There are some who believe he could be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft.
The NFL Combine begins at the end of February. Murray is expected to participate.
