Justin Herbert Broke One Of Peyton Manning's Records On Saturday
Justin Herbert's stellar career continued on Saturday against the New England Patriots.
The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback needed only 153 passing yards to pass Peyton Manning for the most passing yards in a quarterback's first five seasons and he accomplished that in the first half, throwing for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
He was fantastic in that first half and has the Chargers on the brink of a playoff spot with a 20-7 lead at halftime. If the Chargers can have a great second half, they'll clinch one of the last two playoff spots that are up for grabs in the AFC.
Herbert has been fantastic this season, throwing for 3,243 yards with 18 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Those numbers may not be as flashy as Lamar Jackson's or Josh Allen's but he's still been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this year.
If he keeps playing at this level, the Chargers will be a very tough out for whoever they play in the playoffs, assuming they clinch their spot.
There's a chance that the other AFC playoff spot will be locked up later in the day since the Denver Broncos will play the Cincinnati Bengals in Cincinnati. A Broncos win clinches them a playoff spot while simultaneously eliminating the Bengals.
The Bengals need to beat the Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers while getting some more help in order to make the playoffs. That Bengals-Broncos game is the second contest of Saturday's triple-header and it will get going at 4:30 p.m. ET on NFL Network.
Saturday's NFL slate will then wrap up with the Arizona Cardinals taking on the Los Angeles Rams at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network. Rich Eisen and Kurt Warner will have the call for that one.
In the meantime, you can watch the second half of the Chargers-Patriots game on NFL Network.
