Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay are ESPN's top two NFL Draft analysts. They have some pretty different projections for this year's top quarterback prospects.
Kiper has North Carolina's Mitchell Trubisky going first among the signal callers, at No. 6 overall to the New York Jets. McShay prefers Clemson's Deshaun Watson, and has him going one pick later, No. 7 to the San Diego Chargers as the heir apparent to Philip Rivers.
SportsCenter put out a graphic with the projections from each expert for five of the top quarterbacks in the NFL Draft. The full list:
Patrick Mahomes II, the prolific Texas Tech thrower, is the guy that the two experts disagree on most. Kiper is pretty bullish on Mahomes, with him going No. 13 to the Arizona Cardinals, while McShay has him sliding in at the end of the first round to the New Orleans Saints at No. 32.
One of the other interesting trends here is teams with established quarterbacks taking young players relatively early. While it is not unusual for franchises to regularly take quarterbacks in the middle or later rounds, Kiper and McShay each have the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs grabbing quarterbacks in the first two rounds, while McShay also has the aforementioned Watson to San Diego and Mahomes to New Orleans moves.
The NFL Draft, which takes place in Philadelphia this year, runs from April 27-29.
