Police Found 'Cache Of Weapons' In Jonathan Martin's Car After He Made Threats To School
Former NFL offensive lineman Jonathan Martin had a "cache of weapons" in his car when he was taken in by authorities last month. The former Miami Dolphin had made threats on his old high school on Instagram, featuring a picture of a gun and ammo rounds.
On February 23, an alert was sent to Harvard-Westlake High School in the Los Angeles area, about a threat made by a former student. The post was made by Martin on his Instagram account.
In it, he used the hashtags #HarvardWestlake and #MiamiDolphins. He also tagged high school classmates James Dunleavy and T.J. Taylor, and former Dolphins position-mates Richie Incognito and Mike Pouncey.
Incognito and Pouncey were accused of bullying Martin when the three were teammates. Incognito served a suspension as a result of the scandal.
Here is the post that led to Jonathan Martin being taken into custody:
Details have emerged about what officials found when they picked up Martin. TMZ describes the "cache of weapons" that were in the former NFL player's car at the time.
New disturbing details in the Jonathan Martin case ... we've learned he was arrested with a cache of weapons including a loaded shotgun, knife and an ax -- and had been threatening classmates for years.
According to the two former high school classmates, Martin had been messaging them "disturbing messages" dating back to 2016.
One message said, "Thank you for being such an asshole to me when I was a kid and didn't fit in ... being dicks to me when I was a kid has made me, quite literally, insane."
"And I blame you above all. You'll get yours, eventually -- I have already paid my price for being a bad person. I wish you nothing but the worst. Best, Jonathan Martin."
He sent a second message to the same classmate that said, "You're a bad person. You irreparably damaged people's lives. And you will be exposed publicly. If there is anything else I accomplish in life, it will be making sure you are outed and shamed for who you are."
Martin's girlfriend provided even more lurid details about Martin's ongoing issues. She said that he had been writing on the walls of his home, and started making suicidal statements earlier in the month.
He was placed in a psychiatric hold after being brought in by police a few weeks ago. I hope he gets the help he needs.
