Former Notre Dame Star Michael Floyd Released By Arizona Cardinals After DUI Arrest

The Arizona Cardinals have released Michael Floyd.

Wide receiver Michael Floyd has been released by the Arizona Cardinals, the team announced on Twitter today.

Floyd was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. Just two days later, the franchise announced they have released the former Notre Dame star.

This is not the first time Michael Floyd has been in trouble with the law due to mixing alcohol and driving. Floyd was suspended indefinitely from the Fighting Irish after receiving a citation for drunken driving in 2011.

Floyd put together back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons in 2010 and 2011. He currently holds the Notre Dame record for most receptions in a single season with 100, surpassing Golden Tate's 93-catch season in 2009. Floyd also holds school records for most career receptions (271), career 100-yd games (16), and receiving yards (3,689).

The Arizona Cardinals selected Floyd 13th overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Floyd was set to be a free agent at the end of this season.
