Netflix Makes Guarantee To NFL Fans Before Christmas Day

Netflix has its work cut out for itself ahead of Christmas Day.

The streaming giant did not have much success broadcasting the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight back in November. Millions of Netflix customers complained about issues with the platform throughout the fight. The quality of the stream wasn't great, as it was choppy and routinely cut out and/or froze. Several fans were unable to access it at all.

But on Christmas Day, Netflix will be back with some live sports broadcasts. It's set to broadcast two NFL Christmas Day games, in the Steelers vs. Chiefs and Texans vs. Ravens. The two games are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. E.T. and 4:30 p.m. E.T., respectively.

Ahead of the Christmas Day games, Netflix has made a guarantee to its fans.

Netflix Vice President of Nonfiction Series and Sports Brandon Riegg told the Associated Press that Netflix will be ready to go.

"The sheer tonnage of people that came to watch was incredible. And for all the testing that the engineering team had done ahead of that, and I think they’re the best in the business, the only way to test something of that magnitude is to have something of that magnitude," Riegg explained.

"We never want to have technical issues or a disappointing experience for our members. There was a subset of people that were watching that struggled with that and we acknowledge that. The good news is they stress-tested the system to such a degree that there’s a lot of these fixes and improvements that they realized that they could make, and they’re applying all that stuff."

It's one thing to mess up a laughable event like the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight. But if Netflix has serious problems on Christmas Day, that will not go over well.

Hopefully, everything with the Netflix broadcasts on Christmas Day will be smooth and easy. It certainly doesn't want to be messing up an NFL broadcast on the biggest holiday of the year.
